Tourist Entry Permits (usually valid for 30 days).

These are the most common permits granted to individuals arriving into Belize with a valid passport and visa. Persons arriving from teh United States, United Kingdom and Canada are only required to carry a valid passport upon their arrival to Belize.

If you intend to extend your stay in Belize, you may apply to renew your permit at any Immigration Department in Belize before the expiration date. It is highly suggested that you seek assistance when applying to save time.

The only way to work in Belize if you are neither a citizen or a permanent resident is for you to apply for a "Work Permit". This will entitle you to work for yourself or any employer in Belize.

The permits are granted for a period of one year.

Qualified Retirement Program in BELIZE

Are you 45 years or older?
Do you have a monthly income of USD$2,000.00?

Then you may be eligible to apply for this program!

Anyone forty-five years and older can qualify for the program. A person who qualifies can also include his or her dependents in the program. Dependents include spouses and children under the age of eighteen. However, it can include a person up to the age of twenty-three if enrolled in a university.

All persons who have been designated a Qualified Retired Person shall be entitled, on first entering Belize, to import his or her personal effects and an approved means of transportation free of all import duties and taxes.

A Qualified Retired Person shall be exempt from the payment of all taxes and duties on all income or receipts which accrue to him or her from a source outside of Belize whether that income is generated from work performed or from an investment.
